Zoom! A very interesting company in the history of music technology, known nowadays for its affordable recorders and 32 bit audio interfaces, its first real hit on the market was arguably the 9030 Guitar Processor, now made famous in its exclusive use on the LPs Broken and Downward Spiral by Trent Reznor of Nine Inch Nails.

Here and now, we have resurrected life from an early 00s drum machine, the Zoom MRT-3. Unassuming, but with high quality samples, velocity pads and ultra simple workflow, this drum machine cut no corners for a bang for buck offering. Its internal clock has immense groove, making straight beats have human feel, akin to an 808. Overlooked due its simplicity, and competition with the likes of similar products from Boss or Akai, this Japanese micro nugget of phat beats sounds amazing, and does electro, house and techno styles very well. Here we have isolated all the drum sounds, sampled them into the Yamaha TX16W Sampler for some 12bit crunch, and to round off the highs. The loops are recorded clean with no processing.
